Desert Escape

We decided we needed a little vacation so we flew to Arizona for the week.
I got my hair highlighted blonde right before I left and finally it seems longer.
First stop off the plane was Chuckbox for lunch. It is located close to ASU campus, hole-in-the wall spot, and it is the best hamburger you will have. The onion rings are the best too!
We stayed at the same hotel we stayed last year and we LOVE it. We spent the whole afternoon by the pool.
Then we met my cousin & her family for dinner. It was great to catch up!
The next morning we got up early to play the TPC Scottsdale. We flew Southwest so we brought our clubs along. It was a last minute decision, but so glad we did. Jeff ended up playing 3 rounds while we were out there so it was definitely worth it to lug them out there!

After golf, we stopped at In & Out for lunch. Anytime we are in Arizona we have to eat here at least twice.
After lunch was another pool session. I read 5 books on this trip!
We walked to Grimaldi's for dinner in Old Town and found out they were temporary closed for construction so we had to drive to DC Ranch.  Old Town is probably our favorite location, but as long as we got our pizza we didn't care.
The next few days were the same, Jeff golfed early while I slept in, then we went out to one of our favorite lunch spots, then spent several hours at the pool, then dinner.

We stopped at Postino's for lunch on Wednesday. We had never been to the Scottsdale location, so it was fun to see a new spot.
I love the Valley Ho pool.
On our way to dinner one night we stopped at our old apartment complex.  They have changed names since we lived there and it is a little more worn down, but other then that it looks the same!
We stopped at a different location for Grimaldi's.
We had such a great relaxing time.  The week went by so fast and I already wish we could go back!

Arizona Food

Here are my favorite places to eat in Arizona.

This is our favorite place to eat downtown. Jeff & I walked here after the baseball game for a late dinner.  Jeff always gets the Nightmare Nachos.

If you read this blog, you would know we LOVE this pizza place. Whenever we visit a state with a Grimaldi's we make sure to stop by. Our favorite location in Arizona is Old Town Scottsdale. We love it so much we ate it twice.

Of course we have to eat at In-N-Out. I LOVE their strawberry milkshakes.

We actually were the very first customers at Sprinkles. I wanted to make sure I got my cupcake, so we got there at 9 a.m. for my sweet tooth.

This place is so good! Jeff always gets the Nine Iron and I get the Chicken & Mozzarella. After we eat, we always  walk to La Grande Orange next door. You can walk through the kitchen, which is fun.

Hands down, the best burger ever. We found this place through Jeff's co-workers otherwise I don't know if we would have ever found it. It's definitely a hole-in-a wall type place near ASU campus. They only accept cash and you sit on crates, but seriously the burgers are SO SO good.
Up next- TEXAS!

Back At It! AZ Recap

Hello! I am back from vacation, back at work, and back to the routine.
Jeff and I had a wonderful week off. We went to Arizona the first half of the week, and then flew to Dallas/Forth Worth for the second half of the week. Hopefully I will have posts throughout the week about our trip, so make sure you keep checking in!

Arizona
We stayed at the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale and it was just perfect. We spent so much time at the pool and it was so relaxing.

We went to the Brewers/Diamondback game the first night we got into town. We have been to a lot of ball parks and The D-Backs have awesome deals at their concession stands. You can get popcorn, corn dog, or a hot dog for just $1.50 each.
The next day we visited our old apartment complex (which we found out changed its name). We lived there from 2009-2011. Most of it looked the same, but we both noticed how much the trees have grown since we last lived there.
We also drove past both our old works.
We made sure we saw the "big dog". I don't know if I ever mentioned this on the blog, but our apartment in Arizona was close to the airport.  Jeff would be able to spot out flights and know where they were coming from. Arizona has 1 daily 747 flight from London to Phoenix that comes in every day between 5-6pm.  Usually we would just get home from work and look out on our patio and find the plane coming in.
We made sure to see this plane more than once on our trip.

Like I said, we spent a LOT of time at the pool. It was perfection.
We got up early one morning and hiked halfway up Camelback Mountain. It was so HOT even at 7am.
We drove up to South Mountain and took in the views.
Overall we had a great time in Arizona. It was so nice to relax, read some books at the pool (I will have to do a post on the books I read during my trip), and eat at all our favorite places. It was just nice to go back.
Next post will be all our favorite places we ate in Phoenix.

Arizona

We had a week off of work last week and it was wonderful. First stop: BACK TO ARIZONA!

We had a blast in Arizona.
