30th Getaway

We planned my birthday trip last minute.  It all started because I was watching the Big Little Lies series on HBO and told Jeff how absolutely beautiful Monterey looked.  A few weeks before my birthday we were able to check our work schedules & decided lets go for the long weekend.

We left bright and early Thursday morning and flew into San Jose. First stop off the plane was In & Out.
We had the best lunch and then drove the hour long drive to Monterey.  Our hotel room wasn't ready quite yet, so we walked over to the Old Fishermans Wharf.
We had dinner at Mission Ranch. The ambiance was so peaceful & pretty and we could watch the sheep on the patio.  A lot of people recommended Mission Ranch but we found the food to be just mediocre.
The next morning on Friday we woke up and walked to Cannery Row and enjoyed the morning stroll with our coffee.
One of my highlights was having lunch at the The Bench at the 18th hole of Pebble Beach.

After lunch they let us we walk the 18th hole which was super cool.  We then drove around 17-Mile-Drive.  We stopped along the way to take pictures.  Some of the views are just unbelievable!
After 17-Mile-Drive we got on the PCH.  Highway 1 is still closed so we couldn't get all the way down to Big Sur, but we drove as far south as could and stopped along the way a lot - especially at the infamous Bixby Creek Bridge.
The views were so unbelievable. These pictures don't do justice!
After driving for hours we were exhausted so we stopped for dinner at La Bicyclette in Carmel-by-the-Sea.  The pizza was so good! I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

After dinner went to Carmel Beach to watch the sunset.
On Saturday, my actual birthday we got up, got coffee and we strolled around Carmel-by-the Sea.  It is a gorgeous little quaint town with shops & restaurants.

We said goodbye to the beach and then drove 2 hours from Monterey to San Francisco.  The Golden Gate Bridge was so foggy the last time we went so we decided to spend our last day walking the bridge and luckily this time it was a perfect sunny day.
We ended the trip & my birthday with favorite Sprinkles cupcake- chocolate banana!
