Aspen

I've been back from vacation for a couple weeks and very late to post our trip.  I made sure to sit down over the weekend, save all our pictures, and write this post while watching the end of the US Open.

We had a VERY early morning flight to Denver and then rented a car to drive the 3 hours to Aspen. We were lucky because Independence Pass just opened up for the season so we had such a pretty drive through the snow.
We arrived at Aspen Meadows in early afternoon and really enjoyed our stay here. They had several trails on their property and lots of art around the resort. We enjoyed strolling around the grounds.
We were so tired from our flight we had an early night. We ended up getting pizza in downtown Aspen and eating it back in our hotel room.

The next morning we drove to Maroon Bells. It is supposed to be the most photographed spot in the United States. We were lucky because we somehow timed it perfectly and drove right into the park and found a parking spot right away.
After checking out Maroon Bells, we had lunch at the cutest place in downtown Aspen.  I recommend eating there if you are even in Aspen. Then after lunch we strolled through the cute downtown.  I was surprised to see so many skiers still going up the ski lift to ski!

After spending the weekend in Aspen, we drove on Monday (Memorial day) to Denver.  It actually took longer than we expected because there was an accident on the freeway.  However we checked into the hotel, walked downtown to dinner and then headed to Red Rocks for the Tom Petty Show.

Jeff has always wanted to see Tom Petty at Red Rocks so this was a dream come true for him. We were lucky because it was supposed to rain, but it held off for the show. We had pretty good seats too! (12th row)

Next step is Arizona for the rest of the week.
