HONEYMOON HIGHLIGHTS Part I

It's been a whirlwind, incredibly magical last couple of weeks. We got back from our honeymoon a week ago today and we were so thankful we had Labor Day to acclimate ourselves back to reality a bit. We took over 700 photos, so I've decided to break down our honeymoon into three blog posts. We spent time in Toronto, Whistler, and Vancouver, so this post will feature our stay in Toronto.
Saturday, the day after the wedding, we took a flight from Milwaukee to Toronto. We landed late and found a pizza place that was within walking distance from the hotel. We decided to eat back in the room since it was past midnight and were were tired!
Our view from our hotel room.
Our hotel was located next door to the Toronto Film Festival.
We spent our first full day in Toronto exploring. We started our morning at Center Island.  It was a short 15 minute Ferry ride on Lake Ontario and we got the BEST views of downtown.
We had lunch at Shopsy's & then walked around the island for a bit.
We spent that afternoon at the CN Tower. Did you know that it is the tallest free standing structure in the Western Hemisphere?
We spent a good chunk of time waiting in line to take the elevator up. Once we got to the top, there were SOOOO many people, but we were able to still get a lot of nice pictures.
We had dinner at Canteen. We thought it was just okay.
Day 2 was another day of exploring the city! First stop, was Yonge Square. It
reminded us of NYC's Time Square.
We then walked around Yorkville. It is well known for its high end shopping with stores like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Prada, etc.
We then took the subway to the Distillery District. I would have to say that was one of my favorite spots in the city.
We had lunch at Mill Street Brew Pub. We were very hot & tired from all the morning walking, it was a much needed break!
We did walk past the St. Lawrence Market and were hoping to stop in and try some local food. Unfortunately it was closed on Mondays.
Then we headed to Sugar Beach. Jeff had scouted this place out before the honeymoon. It is famous for it's bright pink umbrellas and prestige sand, but no swimming because it is located in a busy shipping harbor.
After Sugar Beach, we walked back to our hotel and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon at the rooftop pool. We even did the Ice Bucket Challenge.
That night, we went to the Toronto Blue Jays Game at the Rogers Centre- it was a fun time!
Toronto is an amazing city! We were surprised how it was quite similar to NYC.

Last pic we took in Toronto. Next up is Whistler! Lots more to come.
